Renault Kangoo wins a trio of top industry awards

The Renault Kangoo and the Kangoo E-Tech electric have added a trio of awards to the model’s bulging trophy cabinet after winning at the What Van? Awards 2024 and the DrivingElectric Awards 2024.

The Kangoo won the ‘Compact Van of the Year’ category at the What Van? Awards, while the Kangoo E-Tech electric took home the ‘Electric Van of the Year’ award at the same ceremony. The pure-electric light commercial vehicle added to its success by also winning ‘Best Electric Van’ at the DrivingElectric Awards.

It is the third consecutive year that the Kangoo has won the ‘Compact Van of the Year’ category at the annual What Van? Awards, previously winning the title at the 2023 and 2022 events.

The triple award win reaffirms the Kangoo’s class-leading status, illustrating how it is the best option for small van customers regardless of whether they are opting for conventional ICE or pure-electric power.

On What Van? awarding the Kangoo for an amazing third year in a row, James Dallas, Editor of What Van?, said: “Boasting a wealth of innovative and practical features the Renault Kangoo raised the bar in the compact van sector and continues to set the benchmark for others to aspire to.”

The website was equally impressed with the zero-emissions-in-use Kangoo E-Tech electric, adding: “Led by Renault, compact vans pioneered the transition to electrification and remain the most effective exponents of the technology. The Kangoo E-Tech electric made a big step up compared to its predecessor in terms of its range and practicality; it is well-thought out, refined and ideal for urban missions.”

Speaking about the Kangoo E-Tech electric, the DrivingElectric judges commented: “They will serve as a great introduction to electric commercial vehicles for businesses making the switch.”

Guillaume Sicard, Country Head UK & Managing Director Renault Brand UK, said: “Coming two years after the international launch of the latest Kangoo, these awards recognise that the model continues to be the benchmark in its class. They prove beyond doubt that Kangoo is the best at meeting the varied needs of hard-working businesses, regardless of the powertrain customers opt for, and showcases Renault’s 40-plus years of strong success in the light commercial vehicle sector.”

Kangoo is available in Advance and Extra trim levels, offering a choice of efficient petrol, diesel or 100% electric powertrains, plus short-, long-wheelbase and crew van formats. It offers up to 20 advanced driver assistance systems, with the standard specification including the EASY LINK infotainment system with 8-inch touchscreen, DAB radio with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, 4.2-inch colour TFT driver information display, automatic headlights and rain sensitive front wipers, smartphone integration with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®, manual air conditioning and a height-adjustable driver’s seat.

The pure-electric Kangoo E-Tech electric offers a load volume of up to 4.2m3, a maximum 764kg payload, 1,500kg of towing capacity, and a driving range of up to 186 miles (WLTP). Its flexible charging means that an 80% charge can be achieved in around 43 minutes when using rapid DC charging at up to 80kW.

The Kangoo is priced from £20,250 plus VAT, and the Kangoo E-Tech electric starts at £32,350 plus VAT before the PIVG.

The Kangoo sits alongside the Trafic and Master models in the long-established range of award-winning Renault light commercial vehicles. With the launch of the forthcoming Trafic E-Tech Electric, there is a fully-electric version of each Renault LCV.
