This 1977 Toyota Celica has been fitted with a 2.2-liter Honda F22C inline-four and repainted in Nissan Midnight Purple III. Additional equipment includes a six-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, staggered-width 16″ BBS RS wheels, Wilwood disc brakes, AccuAir air suspension, Addco sway bars, Jenvey individual throttle bodies, and a J’s Racing tubular header, as well as fiberglass bumpers, front and rear spoilers, flared wheel arches, Bride bucket seats, carbon-fiber interior trim, an NRG steering wheel and quick-release hub, and aftermarket stereo components. This modified Celica is now offered at no reserve on dealer consignment with a California title.
The car was stripped to a shell and walnut blasted prior to rust repair, the installation of fender flares, and a repaint in Nissan Midnight Purple III. Additional exterior details include TRD spoilers, fiberglass “smiley” bumpers, a lift-off hood with hold-down pins, carbon-fiber side mirrors, blacked-out trim, and an a-Spec titanium muffler.
The 16″ BBS RS wheels were rebuilt with aftermarket lips and hardware and they are mounted with 195/50 and 245/45 Toyo Proxes R888R tires. Braking is handled by Wilwood four-wheel discs, and the car’s suspension has been modified with AccuAir air springs, a VU4 air manifold, a chrome compressor, and an e-Level controller as well as Bilstein gas shocks, Addco sway bars, and polyurethane bushings.
The cabin has been reupholstered in microfiber and is equipped with Bride Stradia Venus II Maziora Edition bucket seats, Takata harnesses, an NRG shift knob and parking brake handle, purple-tinted carbon-fiber trim, and Kenwood, JL Audio, and Audison audio components.
An NRG three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a quick-release hub and fronts Honda S2000 digital instrumentation that includes a speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. Additional AutoMeter gauges are mounted centrally, and the digital odometer shows 22k miles.
The Honda S2000–sourced F22C inline-four is equipped with 48mm Jenvey throttle bodies, a J’s Racing tubular header, and a Koyo aluminum radiator. The six-speed manual transmission is also from an S2000, and the limited-slip rear end was reportedly sourced from a Corolla GT-S.
The car was displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California in 2018 and 2019.
The car most recently passed a California emissions test in April 2022, though it has not been inspected by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair, and thus cannot be sold to an in-state private-party buyer.
