Complete conversions based on the Mercedes G-Class have been an integral part of the product portfolio of automobile tuner Kourosh Mansory for many years and, with numerous conversions, also one of the most successful ones.
In order to meet the high demands and the individual wishes of its customers, MANSORY already launched two new products based on the Mercedes G-Class last year. On the one hand, the “Star Trooper Pickup” has been offered since the beginning of last year in cooperation with the designer and couturier PHILIPP PLEIN, and on the other hand, a completely independent special protection vehicle programme (complementary to all conversions of the G-Class) has been created, which follows the philosophy of “invisible armouring”.
And after MANSORY presented in 2013 for the first time a complete conversion called “GRONOS”, a new edition of this bestseller called “GRONOS 2021” will now follow at the beginning of 2021, which follows its forebear in the original design philosophy, but has been adapted to the current ‘zeitgeist’ and customer wishes through numerous detail modifications inside and out, thus keeping the G-Class unchanged attractive and desirable.
The “GRONOS 2021” in detail:
The body styling of the G-Class, painted entirely in “British Racing Green”, is impressive both visually and technically. All aerodynamic parts have been redesigned. Starting with the front apron, the elegantly widened front wings, the widened doors and finishing with the rear apron. All these components are made of full carbon and highlighted with dark grey “Forged Carbon” applications.
The ultra-light full carbon bonnet in unpainted and therefore visible “Forged Carbon” with additional cooling air outlets at the front and sides completes the redesign of the front section. The double daytime running lights on both sides of the front apron and two light-intensive additional headlights on the edge of the roof are also trimmed in carbon and complete the overall impression of the “GRONOS 2021” elegantly and harmoniously from the front.
At the rear, the spare wheel is completely covered in “Forged Carbon” either and is – in combination with the newly designed rear apron – providing a harmonious finish. Numerous other components in “Forged Carbon”, such as the indicator bases, door handle inserts, mirror housings, air intakes and outlets, add further striking highlights and, together with the special paint finish in “British Racing Green”, create an extremely stylish combination.
Larger turbochargers, new downpipes on the left and right, a high-performance exhaust system and a new engine management system have been fitted to the 4.0-litre V8 unit. This results in an impressive 850 hp instead of the 585 hp of the standard G63 AMG. The maximum torque increases from 850 to 1.000 Nm.
As a further result, the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is improved to just 3.5 seconds, and the top speed is also increased to (limited) 250 km/h.
To bring this enormous power on the road, the luxury tuner from Brand equips the “GRONOS 2021” with high-performance tyres of size 295/30R24 all around. They are fitted on forged rims (type: “YN.5”) painted completely in black in the corresponding dimension 10×24.
And – as with all complete conversions of MANSORY, the interior design is in no way inferior to the exclusive exterior. Only the finest materials are used in the interior, which is completely done in “Fawn Brown” coloured leather.
A new leather-carbon sports steering wheel, a sports pedal set in aluminium, dark carbon inlays and new leather inserts with 3D embossing for the seats, in the door inserts and the centre armrest are just as pleasing to the eye as the precisely worked embroidery of the MANSORY logo in the seats and the floor mats. The carpets in the interior are all black in contrast.
Only very few people will be able to enjoy this unique vehicle. The noble off-road vehicle is limited to only 10 copies worldwide and can be ordered now.
