Škoda Auto is making its virtual racing debut with the Škoda Vision Gran Turismo, an all-electric concept car featured in Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation 4 and 5. This concept car, drawing inspiration from the 1957 Škoda 1100 OHC Spider, showcases the brand’s rich heritage and future-focused design.
A Bridge Between Tradition and Innovation
Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, says, “The Škoda Vision Gran Turismo study bridges our rich heritage to our electric future and new Modern Solid design language. Our customers are explorers, and this sleek car is a great way to enrich their experiences and attract new fans.”
Design Inspired by Škoda’s Motorsport Legacy
The Škoda Vision Gran Turismo takes cues from the iconic 1957 Škoda 1100 OHC Spider, a car developed for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Škoda Design team, led by Oliver Stefani, has combined the classic design elements with the brand’s Modern Solid design language. The result is a stunning open-top single-seater with a split rear wing, T-shaped headlights, and matte Explorer Green body color.
Dynamic Performance and Futuristic Design
Powered by four electric motors with a combined output of 800 kW (equivalent to 1071 bhp in the Gran Turismo game engine), the Vision Gran Turismo promises exceptional performance. Active aerodynamics, along with a low and elongated body, ensure outstanding handling. Drivers can choose between two paint finishes: one reminiscent of the Škoda 130 RS and another in matte Explorer Green.
Driver-Centric Digital Cockpit
The interior of the Škoda Vision Gran Turismo is designed with the driver in mind. A minimalist digital cockpit places the driver at the center, featuring a carbon steering wheel designed with expert gamers and a crystal stone power meter. The cockpit display serves as both a speedometer and rearview mirror, enhancing the immersive driving experience.
