Pascal Wehrlein Targeting Another Strong Performance At Diriyah E-Prix In Saudi Arabia

Formula E driver Pascal Wehrlein is relishing the opportunity of racing in Diriyah next weekend, saying he needs to be faultless if he wants to build on his successes in Saudi Arabia.

The Porsche driver goes into Rounds Two and Three on 26th and 27th January on a winning note following his triumph in Mexico in the season-opener. Last season, the German reigned supreme in both races and is fully aware he faces a stern challenge if he wants his replicate his performances on Saturday and Sunday.

He said: “It’s the biggest pressure I put on myself as I want to win and I want to be faultless. All the drivers want to win and work hard and we are going to Diriyah with a lot of confidence. Mexico was strong but we need to 100 per cent prepared and ready. I still need to do the job and hopefully we can have a strong weekend in Diriyah.”

The Riyadh races are the first of the double-headers this season and are the only night races on the calendar.

He added: “Riyadh is a special track and we are racing at night and this is one of the biggest differences as it’s a typical Formula E street circuit. The conditions in Riyadh are a bit special as there’s sand on the track but over time, it gradually goes meaning the lap times are a lot faster. It’s going to be tough but we will be ready.”

Rounds 2 and 3 take place on a street circuit surrounding the UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the most picturesque locations on the 16-race calendar the only night races in the Formula E season.

Ahead of the races, which start at 8pm AST on both days, ticketholders can enjoy a full day of entertainment for the whole family in the Allianz Fan Village, with racing simulators in the gaming arena, plus live music performances, street food and much more.
