MG, celebrating its 100th anniversary at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, has unveiled the rejuvenated lineup of its highly-popular HS SUV. Firmly established as a top ten best-seller in the UK for 2024 and a standout performer in 2023, the new HS models promise enhanced features, increased cabin space, and striking new styling to bolster its appeal further.
Exceptional Value and Enhanced Features
The new generation of MG HS maintains the brand’s commitment to offering exceptional value in the SUV market. Starting at just £24,995 for the petrol HS SE 1.5T and ranging up to £33,995 for the top-tier HS Trophy PHEV, MG continues to deliver premium features at competitive prices. Each model comes with MG’s signature 7-year/80,000-mile warranty, supported by a robust 160-dealer network across the UK.
David Allison, Head of Product and Planning at MG Motor UK, highlights the advancements: “The new SE and Trophy models raise the bar with additional equipment, distinctive MG styling, and a choice of advanced petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains. This strong MG all-rounder now offers even more to its customers.”
Powerful and Efficient Powertrains
The new MG HS offers a choice between efficient petrol and PHEV powertrains. The PHEV variant combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 154kW electric motor, delivering a combined output of 105kW (142ps). It achieves 0-62mph in just 6.8 seconds and offers an impressive electric-only range of up to 75 miles, ideal for UK company car drivers benefiting from a low 5% Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) rate.
Alternatively, the petrol engine variant boasts a new-generation 1.5T engine producing 125kW (169ps) and 275Nm of torque, capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in 9.4 seconds. Both engines come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, with a 7-speed DCT automatic available.
Design and Interior Sophistication
The new MG HS features a refined exterior with a longer wheelbase for increased cabin space and shorter overhangs for a sleeker profile. Notably, the wider stance enhances comfort for all occupants, while a new front grille and slimmer headlights highlight its modern design language. Inside, the cabin offers a contemporary feel with two 12.3-inch high-definition displays, comprehensive connectivity features, and premium materials throughout.
Advanced Safety and Technology
All MG HS models come equipped with the latest MG Pilot package, including Active Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection, and more. The Trophy models add further enhancements such as a 360° surround view camera and wireless smartphone charging as standard.
Availability and Options
The new MG HS is available for order immediately, with petrol models arriving by the end of July and PHEV models expected in showrooms by the end of September. Customers can choose from five premium exterior colour options and benefit from a range of personalization choices, including interior upholstery in black or tan.
