Ford is gearing up to introduce the most advanced and audacious Mustang ever to Europe. The Mustang GTD is set to make its debut at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, followed by rigorous testing on European roads, culminating in a timed run at the iconic Nürburgring Nordschleife in late 2024.
Having undergone extensive testing in North America, including laps at Sebring International Raceway and Virginia International Raceway, the Mustang GTD is engineered to conquer the Nürburgring in under seven minutes. “Testing on European roads and dedicated sessions at the Nürburgring is the next step,” said Chief Program Engineer Greg Goodall.
The Mustang GTD will also make appearances at the 24 Hours of Spa and the Goodwood Festival of Speed, reinforcing its position among Europe’s elite. Accompanying its European debut, Ford will launch an online storytelling series showcasing the car’s cutting-edge features, including a supercharged V8 engine targeting over 800 horsepower. Fans can catch these updates on various social media channels and Ford’s website.
As Europe prepares to welcome the Mustang GTD, prospective owners can look forward to the application process starting in June. This follows a successful North American application window, which closed on May 21 with over 7,500 applicants, highlighting the car’s broad appeal, particularly among motorsport enthusiasts.
Jim Owens, Mustang GTD Brand Manager, stated, “With Mustang GTD, we aimed to create a road-going race car with the heart of a Mustang and the will to beat Europe’s best. The response from North American customers has been tremendous, and we anticipate a similar reception in Europe.”
Stay tuned for more information on European applications coming this June.
