Alfa Romeo Giulia (2023)

The New Giulia and Stelvio are making their debuts. These two award-winning models have won over the international community thanks both to the brand’s trademark excellence-perfect weight distribution, best-in-class driving dynamics, top-of-the-line technological and motor solutions-and to the timeless design which makes any Alfa Romeo vehicle a long-lasting “moving work of art”. Today, Alfa Romeo’s distinct take on the beauty of Italian design has been made even more seductive and contemporary on both models with stylistic interventions being made on their fronts to create a clear and strong family feeling with the Tonale. The New Giulia and Stelvio will be available starting from February 2023.

A new “look”
Standing out on the fronts of the New Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio, the front grille, where the logo is positioned, and the lower grilles of the two main air ducts have been given a unique finishing which provides a contemporary reinterpretation of the famous and distinct “Trilobo” grille. In fact, the headlights are the main new feature on the front. Starting today the “3+3” lights make their debut on both models with new Full-LED Adaptive Matrix headlights. This creates both a strong family feeling with the Tonale and, at the same time, recalls one of the brand’s famous features which was introduced by the iconic Alfa Romeo SZ Zagato and the Alfa Romeo Proteo concept car. The three modules make up the New Giulia’s and Stelvio’s unique frontline and supply daylight, a dynamic turn signal ensuring the best lighting conditions thanks to the introduction of two sophisticated technologies: the “Adaptive Front Lighting System”, which constantly adjusts the dipped beam headlights based on the speed and driving conditions, and the “Glare-Free High Beam Segmented Technology”, which in poor lighting conditions automatically detects both directions of traffic to avoid blinding the other cars; and finally the”Welcome and Goodbye” device, a function which turns on every time the driver closes or opens the car. All of this means more efficiency-in terms of duration and energy savings-and greater safety due to less stress on the eyes and increased driving comfort. The layout of the group of rear LED tail lights, which provide the perfect combination of style and sophisticated technologies, have also been made over to accentuate both models’ sporty souls. Specifically, the New Alfa Romeo Giulia has new tail lights in glass with a transparent finish, while those on the New Stelvio come in smoked glass with a glossy black finish.

The new, completely digital instrument panel
The New Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio are equipped with the most cutting-edge technology to ensure a comfortable and connected experience, while simultaneously providing the trademark pleasure of driving an Alfa Romeo. The most significant update can be seen in the instrument panel with its historic “telescopic” design. It includes the new, completely digital 12.3″ TFT screen, where one can access all the vehicle information and parameters related to the autonomous driving technologies. Moreover, the cluster can be reconfigured into three layouts: Evolved, Relax, and Heritage. Evolved represents the future of Alfa Romeo design and uses the central area of the screen, despite keeping its two lateral quadrants in place. Relax focuses on comfort, is free of detailed vehicle information, and goes without the two quadrants. Heritage is inspired by the brand’s iconic Sixties’ and Seventies’ models, with distinctive details like inverted numbers at the end of the speedometer.

NFT Technology and “Alfa Connect Services”
The New Giulia and Stelvio are equipped with a fluid and intuitive Human Machine Interface (HMI) to keep all the functionalities at hand. Furthermore, the infotainment system guarantees contents, functionalities, and the “Alfa Connect Services” which offers a wide range of useful safety and comfort services designed to offer “Over the Air” updates. For example, the “My Remote” function includes various services like the possibility of controlling some of the vehicle’s functionalities (opening/closing of doors, flashing lights) from a distance via one’s smartphone/smartwatch. Starting today, NFT (Non-Fungible-Token) technology is available on the New Giulia and Stelvio-a world exclusive in the automobile field which the Italian brand began on the Tonale and today is available on its entire lineup. The technology is based on the concept of the “blockchain card”, an encrypted and non-modifiable digital register where the main information on each car gets recorded. This distinctive off-board feature, which is easy to use and sustainable, further highlights the innovative character of Alfa Romeo. Based on the customer’s selection, the NFT generates a certificate where data on the vehicle’s life gets recorded. This certificate can be used to guarantee proper vehicle preservation and, thus, support its residual value. The NFT certificate provides a further source of credibility which helps the owner/reseller, but also reassures the buyer in the choice of a used vehicle.

The driving dynamics is the best in the segment
The driving dynamics of Alfa Romeo’s New Giulia and Stelvio are once again best-in-class in their respective segments. They provide a visceral driving experience in authentic Alfa Romeo spirit, which means the right balance between Italian design, state-of-the-art engines, perfect weight distribution, special technological solutions, and an excellent weight/power ratio. The essence of Alfa Romeo’s current and past models comes from this “magic” formula which, since the Tonale (the symbol of the brand’s metamorphosis), has been evolving to redefine 21st century sportiness to include sustainability. To reach a new level of efficient and high-performing sportiness, the global Italian brand can rely on its renowned excellence. All it takes is sitting down in a New Giulia and Stelvio to understand that one is about to enter into the future of driving.

Lightness and agility: the Giulia’s and Stelvio’s flawless and sporty dynamic behavior is supported by the wide use of ultra-light materials like aluminum (e.g., used at the base of the engines) and carbon (e.g. used for the drive shaft), which has been taken directly from the world of racing.

All-wheel drive with Q4 technology: designed to manage the vehicle’s traction in a reactive and predictive way in order to ensure the highest levels in terms of performance, efficiency, and safety. The Q4 technology guarantees all of the benefits of all-wheel drive and, simultaneously, guarantees reduced fuel usage, reactivity, and the pleasure of driving a rear-wheel drive vehicle. At the heart of the Q4 system is the Active Transfer Case (ATC) which monitors grip conditions and driver inputs in real time to ensure the best performance.

Alfa Romeo’s Q4 system allows the vehicle to travel as a pure rear wheel drive and, if tyre grip is approaching its traction limit, or according to a specific driver request, it can instantly deliver up to 50% of the engine torque to the front in less than 150ms thus preventing wheel slip and ensuring maximum vehicle performance and driving effectiveness.

Q2 mechanical self-locking differential: On the Veloce trim it is possible to integrate the Q4 all-wheel drive with the Q2 mechanical self-locking, which is available also on versions with just rear-wheel drive. The limited slip-differential enhances agility and sportiness, guaranteeing perfect traction for greater vehicle stability in curves at high speed and higher side acceleration and top safety in wet or slippery road conditions by keeping the wheels constantly in check and reducing slippage.

Alfa Link suspension: Driving an Alfa Romeo vehicle is an unforgettable sensation. This is also due to the exclusive Alfa Link™ suspension architecture. On the front, a double wishbone suspension with a semi-virtual steering axis (an Alfa Romeo exclusive) was selected for the front, optimizing the filtering effect and allowing one to steer quickly and precisely for uncompromised handling. On the rear, a multilink solution was opted for, with four and a half arms – an Alfa Romeo patent – that ensure enhanced handling combined with excellent comfort. As an exclusive on the Competizione special series, there is the Alfa™ Active Suspension, with an electronically controlled damping system, which adapts to driving conditions instant by instant, enabling the driver to opt for more performance-biased or comfort-oriented handling.

Integrated Braking System (IBS): the electromechanical system which combines stability control with the braking system, guaranteeing an instantaneous response of the brakes, limiting the stopping distance, and allowing for significant weight optimization. The use of the brake-by-wire system allows for a notable reduction in the components inside the engine compartment, replacing one single hardware with a unit made up of a pump, power brakes and ESP, guaranteeing less cantilevered mass and more vehicle agility.

Plus, contributing to the Giulia’s and Stelvio’s stellar driving dynamics, there is the extremely direct steering wheel which has been paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission with aluminum shift paddles, guaranteeing unparalleled handling in curves. And, last but not least, for the perfect balance between driving pleasure and assistance systems, the New Giulia and Stelvio offer a complete set of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) functionalities for level-two driving autonomy. This means that the driver can let the vehicle control the accelerator, brake, and steering wheel in certain conditions via electronic systems which require the constant monitoring by the driver. These systems support the driver and offer greater comfort during long journeys. However, the driver must in any case remain in constant control of the vehicle, always maintaining hands on the wheel.

A simple and intuitive lineup strategy
The New Giulia and Stelvio converge on the new line logic introduced with Tonale, which makes the customer’s configuration of the vehicle even easier. In fact, two trims are available-Super and Ti-which each have distinctive characteristics to satisfy the most demanding customers. The Super trim, the entry model for a unique Alfa Romeo experience, can be customized with the adoption of the Sprint pack, which includes various sporty optional. Meanwhile, the Ti trim, which highlights the elegance and distinctive character of the two vehicles, can be enhanced with the Veloce pack to reach to most in terms of performance and sportiness. Let’s not forget that the Super, Sprint, Ti, and Veloce names have a long history in Alfa Romeo’s history. So, there are four distinctive trims which are all capable of responding to the customers’ need to feel at one with their vehicles. Finally, the New Giulia and Stelvio offer a significant update in terms of the engines: on all of the lineup models, the rear-wheel drive 160 CV diesel version is now available. And, lastly, there are the powerful, all-wheel drive 280 HP gas and 210 HP diesel engines.

The Competizione special series, the ultimate expression of performance and style, certified NFT
To celebrate the debut of the New Giulia and Stelvio, Alfa Romeo is introducing the Competizione special series-an authentic “concentration” of style and style which is sure to please the diehard Alfa Romeo tribe. Based on the Veloce trim and available with every engine, the launch edition is the top version in the lineup and stands out for its exclusive Moon Light gray matt color and red brake calipers. The intense sporty look of the New Alfa Romeo Stelvio has been accentuated by 21″ alloy wheels. The interiors stand out for their Harman/Kardon audio system and the leather-upholstered dashboard and seats with red stitching. Finally, it includes privacy glass and the Competizione badge on the sides and front headrests. On the Competizione, the exclusive Alfa Active Suspension and NFT (Non-Fungible Token) technology comes standard, which certifies the uniqueness of each Competizione car, and secures its original configuration. It is the highest expression of the essence of Alfa Romeo in terms of style, performance, and technology.
