Acura Performance EV Concept: A Bold Step Towards Electrified Excellence

Acura today unveiled the Acura Performance EV Concept, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s journey toward full electrification. Debuting during the prestigious Monterey Car Week, this concept previews Acura’s next-generation all-electric model, offering a thrilling glimpse into the brand’s electrified future. Developed by the Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles, this performance-driven SUV is set to enter production in late 2025 and will be the first to use Honda’s new EV platform, with manufacturing taking place at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio.

Design and Innovation
The Acura Performance EV Concept embodies Acura’s vision for electrified performance with a dynamic and futuristic design. Its vented hood, stretching forward from the A-pillars, and sculpted side vents give the concept a bold and aggressive look. The striking front fascia takes inspiration from the sleek aesthetics of hydrofoil superyachts, while the coupe-like silhouette and teardrop cabin create a captivating profile.

Finished in “Moonlit White Pearl” with a semi-matte sheen, the concept exudes sophistication. The rear design includes an upswept decklid, full-width taillight, and a prominent diffuser—paying homage to the legendary second-generation NSX. The bold ACURA branding on the tailgate introduces a fresh typeface, signaling the new era of electrified performance vehicles from Acura.

Performance-Oriented Design Elements
With a focus on delivering exhilarating performance, the Acura Performance EV Concept boasts:

  • A long wheelbase and short overhangs for a muscular, athletic stance
  • Massive 23-inch wheels wrapped in 295/35R23 performance tires
  • Brushed machined edges on the wheels, showcasing a unique spoke pattern for a sense of movement even while stationary
  • Drilled high-performance brakes with custom Moonlit White four-piston calipers
  • Striking neon green Acura scripting on the brake calipers, connecting it to the Acura Electric Vision Design Study from Monterey Car Week 2023

A Glimpse into Acura’s Electrified Future
According to Mike Langel, assistant vice president of Acura National Sales, “The Acura Performance EV Concept is a showcase of our next electrified performance SUV, which will follow the recently launched 2024 Acura ZDX. Our goal is to continue providing clients with an electrified driving experience that embodies Acura’s thrilling performance.”

Dave Marek, Acura Design Executive, adds, “This concept vehicle pushes the boundaries of Acura design, utilizing the freedom in stance and proportion that our next-gen EV platform allows. It introduces a range of design themes we plan to incorporate into future models.”

Public Debut at Monterey Car Week
The Acura Performance EV Concept will make its public debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on Friday, August 16, at 10:36 a.m. Following this, it will also be showcased on the Concept Lawn at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 18, where enthusiasts can witness Acura’s bold vision for the future.
