The new Mercedes-Benz GLC electric SUV is now available to order in the UK, marking a major milestone in the brand’s all-electric transformation. With 489 hp, a range of up to 406 miles, and five distinct UK specifications, the GLC delivers the perfect blend of performance, technology, and refined luxury.
Performance and Efficiency
At launch, the electric GLC is offered exclusively as the GLC 400 4MATIC. It features dual electric motors, one on each axle, delivering 489 hp and all-wheel drive capability. The setup enables a 0–62 mph sprint in just 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph. The 94 kWh lithium-ion battery provides a range of up to 406 miles, supported by rapid 330 kW DC charging and 11 kW AC charging, with a 22 kW AC option available.
Efficiency is enhanced through an advanced heat pump and a new One-Box braking system, capable of up to 300 kW of recuperation. In most driving situations, the hydraulic brakes remain unused as the system relies on regenerative braking for smooth deceleration and energy recovery.
Driving Dynamics and Safety
The GLC electric SUV can be specified with AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-axle steering. This system improves agility and comfort by adapting damping in real time, using data from the Mercedes-Benz Cloud and Google Maps. At lower speeds, rear wheels turn opposite the front for tighter maneuverability, while at higher speeds they turn in the same direction to boost stability.
The robust safety architecture includes a reinforced passenger cell and high-voltage protection exceeding regulatory requirements. Advanced driver assistance systems come standard, including DISTRONIC adaptive cruise control, Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, and Traffic Sign Assist. PRE-SAFE® and MB.DRIVE ASSIST further enhance safety with predictive and semi-automated features.
MB.OS and the MBUX HYPERSCREEN
Mercedes-Benz’s new operating system, MB.OS, powers every function of the electric GLC. With computing power capable of 254 trillion operations per second, it coordinates everything from infotainment to driving assistance. The system learns and adapts to user behavior, creating a connected and intelligent driving experience.
The GLC features the MBUX SUPERSCREEN as standard, including a 10.3-inch driver display and 14-inch central touchscreen. Higher trims receive the seamless 39.1-inch MBUX HYPERSCREEN, the largest display ever fitted to a Mercedes-Benz, merging clarity and digital artistry in one elegant interface.
Interior Space and Versatility
With a wheelbase extended by 84 mm over its combustion sibling, the electric GLC offers improved legroom and headroom. Cargo space totals 520 litres, expandable to 1,690 litres with rear seats folded, plus an additional 128-litre frunk for smaller items. The SUV’s towing capacity reaches 2.4 tonnes, making it a practical choice for everyday and recreational use.
Design and Innovation
The electric GLC debuts a new illuminated chrome grille with a smoked-glass mesh and backlit polycarbonate dots, symbolising the next phase of Mercedes-Benz design. Inside, flowing lines connect the dash and console, while the Sustainability Package introduces a certified vegan interior, an industry first for the brand.
Standard equipment for the base Sport model includes the SKY CONTROL Panoramic Roof, 20-inch multi-spoke wheels, LED high-performance headlamps, THERMATIC climate control, and wireless charging. Higher trims such as AMG Line Premium and Premium Plus add DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps, the Burmester® 3D and 4D audio systems, and massage-equipped sports seats for an elevated experience.
UK Market Lineup
UK buyers can select from five trims: Sport, AMG Line, AMG Line Premium, AMG Line Premium Plus, and Premier Edition. Pricing starts at £60,350. Each variant blends performance, luxury, and advanced technology, giving customers multiple ways to experience the future of Mercedes-Benz electric mobility.
