A new era is set to begin for the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team as legendary F1 designer Adrian Newey has committed his long-term future to the team. Starting on 1 March 2025, Newey will take on the role of Managing Technical Partner, marking a major step forward in the team’s quest for world championship success.
Newey, widely regarded as the most accomplished technical mind in the sport’s history, has been the driving force behind 25 Formula One World titles. His decision to join Aston Martin Aramco further solidifies the team’s ambition to become a dominant force in F1.
Having been impressed by the team’s newly built AMR Technology Campus during a private tour in June, Newey saw Aston Martin Aramco as the perfect opportunity for his next Formula One challenge. The state-of-the-art facility, combined with the team’s vision and ambition, played a pivotal role in his decision.
Newey will have plenty to focus on in his new role, including the 2026 technical regulation changes, the integration of Honda’s works power units, and Aramco’s advanced fuel development. In addition, Aston Martin boasts the sport’s latest wind tunnel technology, setting the stage for Newey’s innovative designs.
Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team, expressed his excitement over Newey’s appointment: “This is huge news. Adrian is the best in the world at what he does, and I am incredibly proud that he is joining our team. It’s the biggest story since Aston Martin returned to the sport, and another demonstration of our ambition to build a Formula One team capable of fighting for world championships. Adrian is a racer, and he saw what we have built at Silverstone. We mean business – and so does he. Together, we will write the next chapter in Aston Martin Aramco’s Formula One story.”
Adrian Newey added: “I am thrilled to be joining Aston Martin Aramco. Lawrence is determined to create a world-beating team, and his commitment is demonstrated by the incredible AMR Technology Campus and wind tunnel. Together with Honda and Aramco, Aston Martin has all the pieces in place to become a world championship-winning team. I look forward to helping them achieve that goal.”
Newey’s arrival is poised to transform Aston Martin Aramco’s fortunes, as the team continues to position itself as a future powerhouse in the world of Formula One racing.
