The automotive world is eagerly anticipating the world premiere of the all-electric Škoda Elroq, set for autumn 2024. This exciting new model will expand Škoda Auto’s all-electric SUV lineup into the highly competitive compact SUV segment, the largest sub-segment in Europe by volume. With its striking appearance, the Elroq is the first Škoda vehicle to showcase the brand’s new Modern Solid design language, promising to elevate the exterior aesthetics of Škoda’s portfolio.
The Škoda Elroq is designed to cater to urban and suburban drivers with its spacious interior and clever storage options, offering a luggage capacity ranging from 470 litres to 1,580 litres. Its compact dimensions ensure it is perfect for city driving, while its powerful outputs from 125 kW to 220 kW and a range exceeding 560 km (WLTP) make it suitable for long-distance journeys as well. The Elroq’s fast-charging capability allows it to charge up in under 28 minutes, adding to its practicality for everyday use.
Martin Jahn, Škoda Auto Board Member for Sales and Marketing, emphasized the strategic importance of the Elroq, stating, “The Elroq is a milestone in our BEV portfolio, the first in a coming lineup of six new fully electric models. It perfectly balances size, interior space, and electric mobility for the city and beyond.”
A Versatile Companion for City and Adventure
The all-new Škoda Elroq is ideal for both urban explorers and outdoor adventurers. Its rugged body and optional all-wheel drive make it suitable for off-road trips, while its compact shape and small turning circle ensure it excels in urban environments. Positioned between the Škoda Enyaq family and the forthcoming smallest SUV model, the Škoda Epiq, the Elroq serves as the electric alternative to the Škoda Karoq.
Introducing Modern Solid Design with the Tech-Deck Face
The Elroq is the first Škoda production model to adopt the Modern Solid design language, featuring the innovative Tech-Deck Face. This element replaces the traditional Škoda grille with a glossy black panel that conceals sensors like radar and front camera. The bonnet also debuts the new Škoda lettering, replacing the traditional logo.
Oliver Stefani, Head of Škoda Design, explained, “The Elroq’s Modern Solid look exudes authenticity and robustness while retaining distinctive Škoda design features. The shiny black Tech-Deck Face introduces a new concept for the front end, blending familiar Škoda lines with modern aesthetics.”
Advanced Lighting and Aerodynamics
The Elroq’s LED headlights feature slim upper light strips for position lights and indicators, along with daytime running lights. Below, two LED modules provide low and high beams, ensuring excellent visibility. The rear lights maintain Škoda’s signature C-shaped graphics and crystalline elements, aligning with the Modern Solid design.
Aerodynamic efficiency is achieved with a dynamic arc from the A-pillar to the roof spoiler, contributing to a low drag coefficient of 0.26. Aerodynamically optimized wheels and a wheel gap reducer further enhance airflow, with wheel sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches.
Sustainable and Spacious Interior
The Elroq’s interior, inspired by the Modern Solid design language, offers simplicity, spaciousness, and clean lines. The 5-inch Digital Cockpit and optional head-up display with Augmented Reality provide clear driving information. The infotainment system features a 13-inch central display with a user-friendly interface.
Škoda emphasizes sustainability with the Design Selections for the Elroq’s interior, using materials like Recytitan fiber, made from 78% recycled PET. The entry-level Design Selection Studio offers dark grey fabrics, while the Design Selection Loft includes Recytitan upholstery.
Diverse Powertrain Options and Fast Charging
Built on the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Electrification Toolkit (MEB), the Elroq offers four powertrain variants: Elroq 50, 60, 85, and 85x, with battery capacities ranging from 55 kWh to 82 kWh and power outputs from 125 kW to 220 kW. The Elroq supports DC fast-charging, with the Elroq 85 and 85x charging at up to 175 kW, reaching 10% to 80% charge in under 28 minutes.
Innovative Features and Advanced Safety
Despite its compact size, the Elroq offers a spacious interior with numerous storage options totaling 48 litres. New Simply Clever features include a storage net for the charging cable and a QR code in the boot for interactive video instructions.
The Elroq ensures safety with advanced assistance systems and up to nine airbags. Travel Assist with swarm data, Intelligent Park Assist, and Remote Parking enhance convenience and safety. The MyŠkoda app allows users to control various vehicle functions remotely, including charging and air conditioning.
Commitment to Electric Mobility
Škoda Auto is investing heavily in electric mobility, aiming to increase its electrified vehicle share in Europe and beyond. The Elroq’s introduction marks the beginning of Škoda’s ambitious BEV campaign, with plans to launch six battery-electric models over the coming years.
