This extraordinary custom 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle roadster, built by East Bay Muscle Cars, fetched a remarkable $495,000 at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2024 auction. The vehicle is a stunning example of high-performance engineering and meticulous craftsmanship, making it a standout among custom builds.

Engine and Performance
Under the hood, this Chevelle is powered by a Chevrolet Performance LSA supercharged V8 engine, coupled with a Concept One serpentine drive system. It features one-off headers and an exhaust system, with the engine’s power transmitted through a 4L80E automatic transmission. The car is supported by an Art Morrison GT Sport chassis, equipped with Penske double-adjustable racing shocks and 14-inch Wilwood disc brakes with calipers, ensuring superior handling and braking performance.

Wheels and Tires
The Chevelle rolls on Forgeline Flush-Loc wheels in Satin Black, wrapped in Michelin Pilot tires. It includes optional GT lug nuts and Forgeline RB3C concave wheels with Satin Black centers and custom body-matched outers. The rear axle features a Strange Engineering assembly with a center section, contributing to the car’s robust drivetrain.

Exhaust and Fuel System
The vehicle boasts a 3-inch ceramic-coated stainless-steel exhaust system, Borla mufflers, and custom billet exhaust tips and bezels by EVOD Industries. The fuel system comprises a custom fuel tank, GM fuel pump module, and Keefer design fuel filler mounted in the trunk.

Body Modifications and Exterior
The Chevelle’s body modifications are extensive, including a custom front bumper with integrated LED driving lights and turn signals, lower side skirts, a custom one-off engine compartment, a custom rear bumper, and a rear lower diffuser. Additional modifications include filled keyholes, a reshaped and smoothed windshield frame with flush-mount glass, and 3D-printed mirror mounting arms with 2018 Mustang mirrors. The car is finished in PPG Range Rover Kaikoura Stone Metallic with custom-mixed matte accent colors. Unique lighting includes one-off 3D-printed LED taillights with billet bezels and one-off LED headlights with 3D-printed honeycomb inserts.

Interior and Technology
The interior is completely custom by DJ Designs, featuring full-grain Timber Brown Relicate leather and a leather tonneau top. The dash and console are fully customized and incorporate an Apple iPad for interacting with the ride-control system and operating electrical functions such as windows, e-brake, lights, audio, and trunk and glove box release. An American Autowire harness connects a Vintage Air Gen 4 system, custom Dakota Digital gauges, Hertz Audio component speakers, and a competition JL Audio amp and subwoofer.

Show History and Mileage
This Chevelle is a full frame-off custom build with less than 1,400 miles since completion. It debuted at the 2018 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, where it was a Top 10 honoree in its class during the Battle of the Builders.
