Ducati Monster Senna (2024)

Ducati pays homage to Ayrton Senna by unveiling a collector’s limited edition Monster, celebrating the extraordinary career of the Brazilian racing driver and the legacy he left behind. The limited run of 341 units is a tribute to the legend, symbolizing Senna’s three World Titles and his 41 Formula 1® Grand Prix victories.

Celebrating a Legendary Partnership
The Monster Senna special edition celebrates the deep bond between Ducati and Ayrton Senna. This relationship, founded on mutual respect and passion for motorsport, continues today through Ducati’s collaboration with Senna’s family and Senna Brands. The special livery of this edition, crafted by Centro Stile Ducati, reflects this ongoing partnership.

Senna was one of the first owners of the Monster 900, using it around Monte Carlo and notably arriving on it at the gala evening of the 1993 Monaco F1® Grand Prix. His appreciation for the Monster’s straightforward design, focused on delivering fun riding experiences, inspired this special edition.

Design and Performance
The Monster Senna’s livery is inspired by Senna’s helmet, featuring yellow, green, and blue elements that pay homage to the Brazilian flag. This edition was presented at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack in Imola during the Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Formula 1® Grand Prix, with remarks from Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali, Senna Brands CEO Bianca Senna, and Formula 1® President and CEO Stefano Domenicali.

Claudio Domenicali, Ducati Motor Holding CEO: “Ayrton Senna was and will forever stand as an icon. A sports legend, an extraordinary person, but also a passionate motorcyclist, whom we wish to honour with a special edition of one of the most iconic models in our range: the Monster. Senna was one of the very first owners of the Monster 900 and perfectly represented the values of this bike: style, boldness and fun. The Monster Senna is a demonstration of how honoured we are to define a champion of this incredible level a true Ducatista.”

Bianca Senna, Senna Brands CEO: “The partnership with Ducati is historic and very relevant to this day. The Monster is a perfect motorcycle to recall Ayrton’s lifestyle, focused on high performance but with the ability to enjoy moments of leisure. Fans around the world who admire Ayrton will find this partnership a genuine tribute to his legacy”.

A Storied History

The collaboration between Ducati and Ayrton Senna began in 1990 when Ducati’s then-owner, Claudio Castiglioni, gifted Senna an 851 SP. Senna’s admiration for Ducati led to the creation of the Ducati 916 Senna, a motorcycle with a distinctive livery chosen by Senna himself. Despite Senna’s tragic death in 1994, Ducati continued the project in his memory, with the first series selling out quickly and subsequent series released in 1997 and 1998.

The partnership resumed in 2014 with the 1199 Panigale Senna, limited to 161 units, matching the number of Grands Prix Senna raced. Today, all Ducati Senna models are highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
