Fully-electric Dacia Spring is Top Gear’s ‘Bargain of the Year’

At a time when many buyers want to switch to an electric car but are worried about whether they can afford it, the all-electric Dacia Spring has been officially named the ‘Bargain of the Year’ at the TopGear.com Awards 2023.

The Spring beat every other car on the market to the title – regardless of how they are powered – after impressing the renowned magazine with its unrivalled combination of value, usability, and fun-filled driving experience.

Already Europe’s most affordable new electric car, the Spring will launch in the UK in 2024. When it arrives on these shores it will continue its legacy with its attractive pricing making electric mobility accessible to thousands of drivers and families who may believe that a new, quality EV is out of reach.

On naming the Spring the best bargain around, Jack Rix, Editor of Top Gear Magazine, said: “The Spring is a perfect fit for electric power, despite its shortish range – even going non-stop for 12 hours in a congested city won’t flatten its battery. It bowls cheerfully along, its ride is actually quite supple and controlled, its narrowness turns lanes and alleys into superhighways.”

He continues: “It’s delightfully light and agile on town roads and the meagre power is about right because it matches the tyre grip. It’s about ease of use, ultra-low cost of ownership and, ultimately, carefree fun.”

It’s the second year in a row that Dacia has earned praise in the annual TopGear.com Awards with the Dacia Jogger claiming the highly-coveted Readers’ Choice trophy at last year’s ceremony.

Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, said: “In the 10 years since Dacia arrived in the UK, the brand has built an enviable reputation for offering robust cars that are great to drive and represent unbeatable value. This award officially recognises that Dacia is now rolling out this winning formula to the EV market with the Spring giving the nation’s drivers and families the affordable and highly usable all-electric car that they have been waiting for.”

Following the incredible success of the Spring in other markets, Dacia confirmed that the game-changing all-electric city car will arrive in the UK in 2024 as an all-new version, boasting significant improvements in design and equipment.

Originally introduced in 2021, the five-door supermini has already found homes with more than 120,000 customers since its launch.
