Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has officially revealed its new Transporter, showcasing a significant upgrade from its predecessor. The latest model introduces a host of improvements, offering increased space, payload, towing capacity, and efficiency. While retaining its iconic design, the Transporter has been modernized to meet the demands of a new era.

The new Transporter will be available in multiple variants, including the Kombi, panel van, dropside, and Caravelle. It features state-of-the-art drive systems, including advanced turbodiesel, plug-in hybrid, and electric options. The new Transporter can be equipped with all-wheel drive, enhancing its versatility.

The model range is extensive: the Transporter will come as a panel van for goods transport, a panel van Plus for combined goods and passenger transport, and a Kombi for passenger use. It will also include a double cab variant with a platform body. The Caravelle, designed for commercial passenger transport, offers up to nine seats and will be available in various equipment levels.

Volkswagen has expanded the drive options significantly. The Transporter and Caravelle will feature the latest turbodiesel engines, with outputs ranging from 81kW to 125kW. The new plug-in hybrid drive, offering 171kW, and a range of electric drives with outputs from 100kW to 210kW, will be available soon. The TDI models come with front-wheel drive, while the electric models feature rear-wheel drive, with an all-wheel drive version planned for the future.

Inside, the Transporter offers a refined driver experience with a new 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13-inch infotainment display, and a multifunction steering wheel. Practical features include ample stowage compartments and an updated layout for enhanced usability.

The Transporter’s dimensions have been increased for better load capacity and versatility. It now measures 5,050mm in length, with an extended wheelbase option reaching up to 5,450mm. The cargo capacity is improved, with up to 9.0m³ available in long-wheelbase and high-roof versions. The payload capacity is up to 1.33 tonnes, and it can tow up to 2.8 tonnes.

The new Transporter also comes with a comprehensive standard equipment package, including LED headlights, a digital cockpit, an advanced infotainment system, and enhanced safety features like Lane Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking.
