The fifth generation of Australia’s best-selling large SUV, the Toyota LandCruiser Prado, is set to arrive in dealerships later this year with significant upgrades in performance, technology, and features.

Innovative Enhancements Across the Range
The new LandCruiser Prado boasts a range of innovations including a new platform, re-engineered powertrain with Toyota’s efficient V-Active 48V technology, and a new eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission. Other notable improvements include electric power steering, an electric park brake, a higher maximum towing capacity, and advancements in active safety and connectivity.

Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley emphasized the customer-driven enhancements:

Performance and Power

  • New Platform: The GA-F platform, shared with the LandCruiser 300, provides excellent response, ride, and handling both on and off-road.
  • Re-engineered Powertrain: The 1GD 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine produces 150kW of power and 500Nm of torque, enhanced with Toyota’s V-Active 48V technology.
  • Transmission: An eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission replaces the previous six-speed unit.
  • Towing Capacity: Increased by 17% to 3,500kg, supported by a new tow haul system.

The new LandCruiser Prado is packed with advanced safety features and connectivity options:

  • Safety: Includes a pre-collision system, all-speed adaptive cruise control, lane trace assist, driver monitor camera, emergency driving stop system, safe exit assist, and more.
  • Connectivity: A 12.3-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, cloud-based navigation, Toyota Connected Services, and a 10-speaker audio system.

    • LED headlamps, fog lamps, and rain-sensing wipers.
    • 18-inch alloy wheels and heated/power-retractable side mirrors.
    • Interior features include two-zone climate control, smart entry, and a 220V power outlet.
    • Advanced safety features and a 12.3-inch touch screen with advanced connectivity.
  2. GXL ($79,990):
    • Adds synthetic leather seats with power adjustment, heating/ventilation for front seats, and additional USB-C ports.
    • Includes a new parking support brake system.
  3. VX ($87,400):
    • Features bi-LED headlamps, 20-inch alloy wheels, and premium leather upholstery.
    • Enhanced with a digital instrument cluster, 14-speaker JBL audio system, and adaptive variable suspension (AVS).
  4. Altitude ($92,700):
    • Off-road focused with unique alloy wheels, all-terrain tyres, moonroof, and black exterior trim.
    • Includes digital rearview mirror, heated steering wheel, and head-up display.
  5. Kakadu ($99,990):
    • Adds panoramic moonroof, illuminated side steps, heated/ventilated rear outer seats, and a torque-sensing rear limited-slip differential.
