Tech Drives The Beast: The F150 Tremor Packs The Tools Required To Unlock Performance

With a range of advanced available performance-driven technologies, Ford’s off-road-conquering all-new F-150 Tremor is equipped to handle even the toughest environments. The 2022 model combines technology upgrades that match the performance expectations of drivers across the region – both on the highway and off the beaten track.

“In 2022, off-roading enthusiasts demand more than just a powerful engine, robust suspension, and rugged looks in a performance vehicle,” said Chris Noel, Managing Director for Ford Middle East. “They also want cutting-edge technologies that can make their experience easier, safer, and more exhilarating – on and off the road. That’s what Ford engineers had in mind when building the all-new F-150 Tremor.”

The F-150 Tremor has been designed and engineered for customers seeking more off-road capability that can handle their demanding lifestyle with ease. Every available technology has been installed to accentuate the core duties of a truck – offering outstanding performance with a level of integration only the F-150 can offer.

Top-of-the-line off-roading technology

Tremor technology was built to help customers venture deeper than ever into a range of outdoor environments for longer journeys without frequent stops for spotters. Visibility is a non-negotiable for any off-roading vehicle, and the F-150 Tremor certainly delivers. While its available 360-degree camera package provides an in-cabin view of obstacles around the truck, a front-view camera provides a real-time tire track overlay to dynamically show the path of the wheels ahead. Additionally, 360-degree view and rearview cameras can be called up at higher speeds with a convenient dash-mounted hard button.

Equally important is control, and the available Ford Trail Toolbox helps drivers rule even the roughest environments with the 2022 Tremor. Trail One-Pedal Drive helps make extreme off-road driving easier. In harsh trail situations, a driver typically must use both pedals, modulating throttle and brake simultaneously to advance the truck and avoid damage. With Trail One-Pedal Drive, everything is simplified, with those operations combined so that you only need to activate the throttle – press to move forward, release to brake. The Tremor applies the brakes proportionally as the driver eases their foot from the accelerator.

Steering has also been simplified with the available Trail Turn Assist, which reduces steering radius in tight off-road terrain situations by applying brakes to the inside rear wheel, enabling tighter turns in low-speed maneuvers in challenging environments. Different terrain poses different requirements, which is why the Tremor features selectable drive modes for different driving conditions. In addition to Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, Eco, Slippery and Deep Snow/Sand, and Mud/Rut modes, the Tremor has Rock Crawl mode, which automatically engages the rear locking differential, turns off stability and traction control, reduces throttle response, adjusts shift points, and displays the available 360-degree camera view on the center screen.

In addition to standard Hill Descent Control, the Tremor also offers available Trail Control, which operates like cruise control for off-road use. Drivers simply select a set speed, and the truck takes care of throttle and braking to allow them to focus on steering through challenging off-road conditions.

Cabin of convenience

Moving inside, the F-150 Tremor’s Ford Co-Pilot360 offers an unprecedented available set of features designed to make the driver’s journey as smooth and safe as possible. The Lane-Keeping System alerts drivers that they are straying outside the line, while Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking scans the roads ahead to alert you when a hazard appears – such as a vehicle or pedestrian. If no action is taken by the driver, the Tremor applies the brakes automatically.

Monitoring the F-150 Tremor’s status is a breeze thanks to an available 8- or 12-inch productivity screen in the instrument cluster. This display features useful information, including the driving mode – with a theme to match. Meanwhile, the available center-stack touchscreen is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, seamlessly integrating drivers’ smartphones into their Tremor experience. Importantly, the standard SYNC 4 has enhanced voice recognition, allowing you to command your Tremor to make and receive calls without taking eyes off the road or fingers off the steering wheel.

The available B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen delivers powerful audio with eight speakers that match the Tremor’s might, while the B&O Unleashed Sound System takes this to another level with 18 speakers around the cabin – including the headliner and front headrest – enveloping every occupant with incredibly rich audio.

Overcome every off-road obstacle

As is standard with every F-150, the Tremor is built on a high-strength steel frame and military-grade aluminum alloy body. This rugged truck comes in SuperCrew configuration with a 5.5-foot box, 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission plus standard four-wheel drive. Available in standard, mid and high equipment groups, the F-150 Tremor includes a broad range of standard and available features. All equipment levels share core suspension hardware that helps balance work with off-road prowess.

The upgraded suspension starts with Tremor-specific monotube front shocks and rear twin-tube shocks for added ground clearance and to help keep tires more firmly in contact with terrain. The front hub knuckles have been revised to accommodate an additional 1.2 inches of running ground clearance, while the shocks have been tuned for softer damping at low speeds, with additional damping and control for more severe off-road events.

New 32-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires have been mounted on matte-finish 18-inch wheels for added ground clearance and an inch-wider stance for even more off-road confidence. Meanwhile, a Raptor-style bash plate serves to protect front end components in challenging off-road situations. All of these modifications together result in an approach angle of 27.8 degrees, breakover angle of 21.6 degrees and ground clearance of 10.9 inches. The F-150 Tremor has 1.5 inches more total travel in the rear and an additional inch of total travel in front.

To tackle the toughest, roughest dunes, standard running gear includes a locking rear differential with an optional upgrade to a Torsen® limited-slip front across all equipment levels. Tremor high series customers get a torque-on-demand transfer case similar to the high-performance unit in the F-150 Raptor. This cutting-edge case merges all-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive capabilities to handle virtually any off-road environment.

Designed to take you beyond

The F-150 Tremor’s hood and front end have a muscular profile, while a unique grille featuring a blacked-out Ford oval is highlighted by the signature Tremor color of Active Orange, which also accentuates two front recovery hooks. Raptor-inspired off-road fixed running boards are mounted close to the body to limit damage, while a cutout rear bumper features a high-flow dual exhaust flanking its two rear recovery hooks. Active Orange-highlighted badging appears on the fenders, bed sides, and tailgate to give the Tremor its unique signature look.

The Active Orange theme continues in an interior loaded with Tremor detailing, including unique seat trim with special stitching, materials, and finishes for the instrument panel, center console, and doors.

The F-150 Tremor’s functional off-road hardware isn’t limited to the vehicle’s exterior but also extends to the cabin, with a six-position auxiliary power switch pack mounted in the overhead console so owners can easily add off-road winches and air compressors. A Rigid off-road light package with 2-inch light cubes mounted at the base of the windows plus light bar mounted in the front bumper can be dealer-installed on all models.
