Supercharged C2: A 1963 Corvette with LT4 Power

Pat Bourke’s quest for the perfect Corvette has culminated in a stunning 1963 model, now fitted with a Chevrolet Performance LT4 crate engine. This transformation was brought to life by Zac Love’s Love Kustoms in Burkeville, Virginia, and showcases a blend of classic style with modern performance.

Engine Power and Performance
The heart of this build is the LT4 engine, delivering 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The engine features a cast-aluminum block with six-bolt, cross-bolted main caps, forged internals, and a 1.7L Eaton R1740 TVS supercharger that generates up to nine pounds of boost. This setup provides an exhilarating driving experience, particularly evident during autocross events.

“We could’ve gone with an LS, but the LT4’s got 650/650 coming out of the shop,” says Bourke, highlighting the impressive power of this engine. Originating from the seventh-generation Corvette Z06, the LT4 adds a potent performance pedigree to the classic C2.

Customization and Design
Bourke, a seasoned automotive enthusiast from Virginia Beach, entrusted Love Kustoms with the task of updating his Corvette. Love Kustoms, known for their precise and meticulous work, integrated the LT4 with a Super Magnum six-speed manual transmission, designed for high-torque applications like this one.

The Corvette’s suspension has been upgraded with Ridetech coilovers, and the rear was narrowed to accommodate wider wheels and tires. The vehicle now rides on Michelin tires mounted on Schott wheels, with 19×8 inches at the front and 20×12 inches at the rear. Baer brakes provide reliable stopping power.

Aesthetic Upgrades
The exterior of the Corvette is finished in a House of Kolor Candy Burgundy paint, which shifts in hue depending on the light. The tan leather interior, crafted by Bux Customs, complements the exterior’s sophisticated look.

“The challenge with every custom car is providing a unique personality,” says Love. “It’s a ‘63 Corvette, and it needs some class; it needs some style. We aimed for a timeless look that won’t go out of style.”
