Since the debut of the 5.0L Coyote engine in the 2011 Mustang GT, car enthusiasts and builders have recognized its immense performance potential. Ford Performance Parts has harnessed this potential, creating control systems to integrate the Coyote engine into any vehicle. As technology and materials have advanced, so have the power and torque outputs of this remarkable engine. Now, with the launch of the 2024 Mustang, the Coyote continues its evolution with the introduction of the Gen 4 Coyote crate engines.
Gen 4 Coyote Crate Engines
The Ford Performance Parts engine team is excited to announce two new versions of the Mustang 5.0L Coyote engine:
- Gen 4 M-6007-M50D
- Gen 4 M-6007-M50DAUTO
Both engines feature a dual throttle body intake with two 80mm throttle bodies, delivering impressive performance figures:
- Power: 480 hp @ 7,150 rpm
- Torque: 415 ft.-lb. @ 4,900 rpm
Ford Performance control packs, necessary to run these Gen 4 engines, will be available in Summer 2024.
Gen 4X Coyote Crate Engine
For those facing packaging challenges with dual throttle bodies and dual air inlet systems, Ford Performance has developed a single throttle body solution: the Gen 4X M-6007-M50H. This engine features a single throttle body intake with one 80mm throttle body, producing:
- Power: 460 hp @ 7,000 rpm
- Torque: 420 lb-ft @ 4,600 rpm
The Gen 4X engine will require a unique control pack to ensure proper operation.
Compatibility and Updates
- FEAD Components and Alternator Kits: Carry-over from the Gen 3 5.0L Coyote crate engines.
- Exhaust Flange Pattern: The LH cylinder head now matches the 5.2L pattern, while the RH pattern remains the same as Gen 3.
A detailed chart is available to guide customers in selecting the appropriate Gen 4 Coyote crate engine. The Gen 4X engine is available in a single version, which can be fitted with either a manual flywheel or an automatic flexplate, depending on the desired configuration.
