July 22, 2024 – Since its inaugural iteration in 2014 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, the annual Mecum Harrisburg collector car auction has attracted motivated consignors, eager bidders and enthusiastic spectators from across the nation, and the 2024 event, set to take place this July 24-27, will continue the tradition with an estimated 1,200 vehicles to be auctioned and live broadcasts to air on MotorTrendTV and MAX.
As Mecum’s only auction in the Northeast part of the country, the event consistently draws an attractive and diverse lineup of vehicles. Among headliners slated for the Harrisburg block this year is a 1953 Chevrolet Corvette Kindig-It CF1 Roadster (Lot S113) known as “Caduceus.” Built by the well-known Kindig It Designs crew as No. 12 of a limited run, the car features a Lingenfelter LS V-8 engine, a custom carbon fiber body and a custom rounded one-piece windshield that completes the sleek look. A 1962 Ghia L 6.4 (Lot S154) that is one of only 26 produced by Ghia in Turin, Italy, is another headlining consignment slated to run in Harrisburg.
Private collections are a staple at every Mecum auction, and they typically hold an additional level of appeal due to their often long-term ownership and meticulous care. The 32 lots of the Harrisburg-bound Great Lakes Collection present a wealth of variety as represented by classics such as a 1957 Ford Thunderbird E-Code Convertible (Lot S142), 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop (Lot S138), an AACA Senior and Grand National award-winning 1952 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup (Lot F112.1) and a 1940 Ford Custom Coupe (Lot F107). The more-modern car enthusiasts will appreciate the 1998 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible (Lot F104), 2022 Ford Bronco Sasquatch (Lot F112) and 2023 GMC Hummer EV SUV (Lot S135), to name a few.
The Holden Grace Collection of 24 lots is headlined by a frame-off restored 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L89 Convertible (Lot S76) that is one of just 624 Corvettes built that year with the L89 aluminum cylinder heads, and six of the 24 lots From the James T. Lynch Collection are Ford Mustangs, including a 1996 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible (Lot S82) and a trio of 1966 Ford Mustang Fastbacks (Lots S85, S86 & S88).
Additional collections include The Rusted Restoration Collection, encompassing seven vehicles and 13 pieces of Road Art led by a local-appealing Hershey’s Ice Cream Double-Sided Embossed Porcelain Sign (Lot Z442); The Jaime Delapaz Collection of 14 lots with 10 offered at no reserve; and The Martik Brothers Collection with 11 of the 14 vehicles being Chevrolet Camaros, including a COPO-certified 1969 Chevrolet COPO Camaro (Lot S215).
A 1956 Bently S1 (Lot W62) donated to the Rolls-Royce Foundation will sell at no reserve on Wednesday, July 24, with the proceeds to benefit the foundation.
