McLaren Automotive Wins ‘Game Changer’ Award At The Walpole British Luxury Awards 2021

Luxury supercar maker McLaren Automotive has won the Game Changer award at the Walpole’s British Luxury Awards ceremony held at The Dorchester hotel in London.

Presented by Emma Thynn Marchioness of Bath, businesswoman, model and philanthropist the award recognises McLaren’s ongoing commitment to innovation in technology and the application of science, which has been at the forefront of the all-new McLaren Artura, the company’s first series high-performance hybrid supercar.

McLaren established its credentials in electrification when it launched the world’s first ever hybrid hypercar, the McLaren P1™, over nine years ago. The all-new Artura brings the introduction of electrification to series production at McLaren, made possible by the ground-breaking processes and technology developed at their McLaren Composites Technology Centre, which opened just three years ago, to reduce vehicles mass which enables more energy efficient driving while ensuring the driving and handling attributes customers expect of a McLaren.

These advances will not only guide McLaren’s path towards a fully electrified future later this decade, but the company is also working as part of a UK Government initiative to take their lightweighting know-how and make other forms of transport more energy efficient.

“It’s an honour to have won Walpole’s Game Changer award given for McLaren Automotive’s commitment to innovation, design and the application of science for our hand-built supercars.

“In just 10 years we’ve created new processes and technologies that enable us to be leaders in our field, while remaining true to our lightweight motorsport origins to deliver an unrivalled driving experience while minimising environmental impact.

“With the application of design and science, McLaren remains a truly innovative luxury British brand that delivers ground-breaking modern, personalised products that delight our customers the world over.”
Ruth Nic Aoidh, Executive Director of Purchasing, Commercial, Legal & Government Affairs, at McLaren Automotive

“McLaren constantly pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in a modern luxury supercar, which is why the brand was a shoo-in for the Walpole Game-Changer Award. The technological innovation of the Artura’s carbon fibre lightweight architecture coupled with its high-performance hybrid engine, wrapped up in an exquisite design sets an exciting course for the future of British high end automotive”
