Clean, compact and a great driving experience: Mazda has reviewed the Mazda2 Hybrid (WLTP fuel consumption (combined): 4.3-3.8 l/100 km; CO2 emissions (combined): 97-87 g/km. EC type approval and certificate of conformity with official values are not yet available.), updating the exterior to a true Mazda design and enhancing the safety technologies. The model is also now easier to configure, with a refreshed grade structure.
Launched almost two years ago, the Mazda2 Hybrid immediately established itself as a progressive model in Mazda’s portfolio.
The 2024 Mazda2 Hybrid has received a new face by adapting a new bumper and grill design. Together with a unique rear – designed in the European Design Studio and featuring a liftgate garnish in body-colour – the setup creates a sporty look and gives the vehicle an expressive surface highlighting the crafts people’s handiwork.
The Mazda2 Hybrid features intelligent hybrid technology which seamlessly transitions between electric, petrol and combination modes. The compact car combines a 1490 cm³, 92 PS/68 kW three-cylinder petrol engine with a 59-kW electric motor for a total system power of 116 PS/85 kW. The 2024 hybrid accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and has a top speed of 175 km/h. It returns a WLTP combined cycle fuel economy figure of only 4.0-3.8 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of just 97-87 g/km (wheel size/grade-dependent).
A high level of safety is guaranteed in all variants: standard equipment includes a pre-crash safety system, a lane departure warning system, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, and many more.
The new Mazda2 Hybrid is available in five grades: Prime-line, Centre-line and Exclusive-line as well as Homura and Homura Plus.
The entry model – now called Prime-line – encompasses a range of attractive comfort and technology features including keyless entry, USB-C connection, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ shown on the multimedia display which, has grown to 9-inches. Centre-line adds four more speakers for a more immersive sound experience. In the Exclusive-line the Centre-line equipment is enriched by the addition of auto fold side mirrors, 16-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors as well as Mazda’s Blind Spot Assist (BSM) and Parking Control Assist (RCTA).
The Homura further builds upon the Exclusive-line features to include LED lamps on the front and rear as well as 17-inch alloy wheels. Privacy glass, black roof lining, half vinyl leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control as well as interior LED lighting increase comfort even further. For the Homura Plus, a 12.3 inch digital driver display, larger 10.5 inch multimedia display, head-up-display and navigation system are added. A panoramic glass roof and vanity mirrors also come in this range topping model.
The Mazda2 Hybrid is a significant car for Mazda in Europe. The company is convinced that by offering a full suite of sustainable technologies – ranging from battery-electric vehicles, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids to a rotary engine as a power generator – a multi-solution strategy is a swift and effective way to reduce emissions.
