James Bond’s Iconic Aston Martin Vanquish Up for Auction: ‘Drive Another Day’ in Style

Fans of James Bond and classic cars are in for a treat as an Aston Martin Vanquish, famously used by Pierce Brosnan and EON Productions to promote the 2002 film Die Another Day, is set to go under the hammer with H&H Classics. This iconic vehicle, which played a significant role in the film’s promotion, is now available for one lucky bidder to own a piece of cinematic and motoring history.

The Vanquish, which also led a parade commemorating the opening of the M6 Toll road in 2003, will be offered for sale on Wednesday, October 9th, at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford. With an estimated value of £50,000 to £70,000, this V12-powered GT, capable of nearly 200mph, is a highly coveted collector’s item.

Originally one of seven Vanquish cars retained by Aston Martin for press duties, this model—registered as ‘Y834 MWL’—had already graced the pages of various publications before being delivered to Pinewood Studios. There, it was featured in a photoshoot alongside Pierce Brosnan, the fifth actor to portray James Bond. The stunning images from this shoot were used to promote Die Another Day worldwide, with the car’s Tungsten Silver finish and Charcoal leather interior matching the hero cars seen in the film.

The Vanquish for sale has a unique history, including brief stints with the number plates ‘M16 SPY’ and ‘A12 AML.’ With just 37,800 miles on the clock, this car has been cherished by its current owner for over 20 years as part of a prominent collection.

Inside, the Vanquish blends cutting-edge technology with traditional materials, showcasing the best of Aston Martin’s craftsmanship at the time. The car’s association with James Bond continues to captivate, with images from the original collaboration still appearing in newspapers, magazines, and online.

James McWilliam, Sales Manager at H&H Classics, highlighted the significance of this auction: “Our October auction offers a fantastic opportunity to own a slice of movie and motoring history with this stunning Aston Martin Vanquish. Not only was it used at Pinewood Studios for photoshoots with Pierce Brosnan, but it was also the first car to drive down the M6 Toll road to commemorate its opening.”

This Vanquish is not just a piece of James Bond lore; it’s also a superb example of Aston Martin’s last hand-built grand tourer. Die Another Day played a pivotal role in re-establishing the partnership between EON Productions and Aston Martin, ensuring that the British manufacturer has supplied all of James Bond’s hero cars since 2002.

This auction presents a rare opportunity to own a vehicle that embodies the glamour and excitement of the James Bond franchise.
