F1 – Norris Maintains Top Spot in Hungary as Piastri Follows Close

Lando Norris kept his momentum going at the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix, topping the timesheets in FP2 and leading a McLaren one-two finish. Just 0.291 seconds behind was Oscar Piastri, while Charles Leclerc claimed third for Ferrari.

McLaren’s Continued Dominance at the Hungaroring

After topping FP1, Norris wasted no time asserting himself again. Early laps saw Yuki Tsunoda and George Russell trade P1 before Norris stepped in with a 1:16.916. Piastri briefly stole the spotlight with a 1:16.697, but Norris answered back with a session-best 1:15.624.

Ferrari and Aston Martin in the Mix

Leclerc slotted into third, less than four-tenths off the pace. Aston Martin also showed strength, with Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso both inside the top five. Stroll’s early run on Soft tyres saw him briefly top the charts before the McLarens surged ahead.

Struggles for Red Bull

Max Verstappen’s day was far from smooth. Complaining of poor grip and likening his RB21 to “driving on ice,” the reigning champion ended up 14th. Tsunoda managed ninth, still eight-tenths behind Norris. Verstappen’s frustration was visible, including an odd incident where he threw an object from his cockpit mid-lap.

Midfield Highlights

Lewis Hamilton placed sixth for Ferrari, followed closely by George Russell and Isack Hadjar. Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli impressed again, securing 10th, while Haas and Sauber also found representation in the midfield.
