Chevrolet’s all-electric Equinox EV is designed to help customers make a seamless, confident, and uncompromising transition to electric vehicles (EVs). Rounding out Chevrolet’s electric portfolio, the Equinox EV covers major segments, including full-size trucks, midsize SUVs, and compact SUVs. It boasts an EPA-estimated range of 319 miles on front-wheel-drive models, making it a practical choice for daily commutes and long road trips.
“We are at a turning point where EVs will be the mainstream choice for the next generation of customers, and the Equinox EV will lead this charge for us,” said Mary Barra, Chair and CEO of General Motors. “With the flexibility of GM’s Ultium Platform, we are bringing to market vehicles at nearly every price point and for every purpose.”
The Equinox EV starts at $43,295, with a base model LT starting at $34,995 available for ordering later in the year. This pricing strategy ensures that Chevrolet can offer a wide array of EVs to meet various customer needs.
Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet, emphasized the company’s expertise in truck and SUV segments, channeling that experience into the new EV lineup. “We know truck and SUV customers better than anyone and we’ve channeled that insight and experience into our new EVs.”
Design and Features
The Equinox EV combines style, space, safety, and value, elevating the attributes that made the gas-powered Equinox popular. Key features include a large, 17.7-inch infotainment screen, a suite of driver assistance technologies, and available Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology.
Visually, the Equinox EV’s design is bold and commanding, offered in two distinctive personalities—LT and RS—with both front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations. Highlights include sleek lines, sporty proportions, innovative walk-up lighting, and various wheel options. Inside, it offers a modern, spacious cabin for five, with numerous storage solutions and up to 57.2 cubic feet of cargo space.
Comfort features include heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and a heated windshield wiper park feature, making it suitable for various climates.
Effortless EV Technology
Chevrolet ensures a seamless transition to EVs with features like navigation and route planning through the MyChevrolet app, which helps locate and plot routes to charging stations. GM continues to work on expanding accessible public charging throughout North America, providing customers access to over 174,000 public chargers.
“The Equinox EV has the range to take you where you want to go, the spaciousness for your passengers and gear, and technology to do it all comfortably and confidently,” said Bell.
Safety and Performance
Safety is a top priority for Chevrolet. The Equinox EV includes standard features like Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist, and more. It also offers Super Cruise, allowing hands-free driving on more than 400,000 miles of compatible roads across the U.S. and Canada.
The Equinox EV’s performance is powered by a standard FWD system with 213 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque, with an eAWD system offering 288 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque available. One-Pedal Driving and regenerative braking are standard, enhancing the driving experience and maximizing range.
Charging capabilities include standard 11.5 kW Level 2 charging, adding up to 34 miles of range per hour, and DC fast-charging capability of up to 150 kW, which can add approximately 77 miles of range in just 10 minutes. The battery is covered by an 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty.
Available for Fleet and Retail Customers
The Equinox EV also caters to fleet customers, offering the benefits of zero-emissions driving and reduced maintenance. Bell highlighted that the Equinox EV can help fleet customers save time and money with its efficiency and long range.
Chevrolet’s Equinox EV is now available, produced at GM’s Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, production facility. With its combination of style, technology, and practicality, the Equinox EV is set to be a game-changer in the EV market, offering an uncompromising driving experience that fits seamlessly into customers’ lives.
