Alpine A290 Rallye EV Brings Electric Energy to the Stages

The Alpine A290 Rallye is here, and it’s shaking up the world of rally racing with electric force. Built from the ground up for customer competition, this all-electric machine is Alpine’s first step into rallying with zero emissions, without sacrificing speed or spirit.

Alpine A290 Rallye: Designed for the Dirt

Alpine’s racing DNA shines through in the A290 Rallye. Developed at the brand’s Viry-Châtillon base and assembled at the Dieppe factory, it was made to compete across a range of formats, from single-make challenges to open rally events. Even better, it offers support packages and infrastructure for customers, making the leap into electric rallying more accessible than ever.

This EV isn’t just about technology. It honors the brand’s founder Jean Rédélé’s original vision, blending agility, competition spirit, and pure driving emotion.

Power, Torque, and Performance Upgrades

Let’s talk numbers. The Alpine A290 Rallye generates 220hp and 300Nm of torque, all sent to the front axle through a specially developed ZF limited-slip differential. Performance is further enhanced with a reworked gearbox and updated electric management system.

To handle rally conditions, it features Alpine Racing’s bespoke ABS system and a hydraulic handbrake. These upgrades ensure precision handling and reliable stopping power, even when things get a little sideways on gravel.

A True Rally Setup

Safety comes first, so a welded FIA roll cage surrounds the crew, paired with Sabelt bucket seats. The chassis is based on the road-going A290, but its rally transformation includes ALP Racing Suspension shock absorbers, and EVO Corse 18-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport A tyres.

Braking is equally serious. At the front, you’ll find six-piston monoblock calipers clamping down on 350mm discs. The rear setup includes single-piston calipers with 280mm discs. Together, they give the A290 Rallye confidence on twisty tarmac or loose surfaces.

Sound, Style, and Sensation

Yes, it’s electric, but Alpine made sure it still sounds like a rally car. A unique system adds audible feedback that syncs with throttle input and vehicle speed. It’s an important touch for fans and drivers alike.

The car’s compact dimensions, just under 4 meters in length and with a 2,534mm wheelbase, make it nimble and responsive on stage routes. Every detail has been crafted for competition, including an optimized suspension setup and motorsport-grade electrical monitoring systems.

Priced from €59,990 (excluding VAT), the Alpine A290 Rallye is fully assembled, painted, and ready to compete. It will make its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (10–13 July 2025) and race later at Rallye Mont-Blanc Morzine (4–6 September).

For those eager to get behind the wheel, Alpine is organizing a single-rally challenge in France this year. Drivers will receive full technical and sporting support, complete with an Alpine-themed paddock and recharging infrastructure powered by eco-conscious technologies.

Summary

The Alpine A290 Rallye proves that electric cars can be emotional, competitive, and thrilling to drive. With rally-spec tech, a competitive price, and Alpine’s commitment to motorsport, it’s set to charge into a new chapter for electric racing.
