Mustang KINGPIN: The Dark Rebirth of Ford’s Mach 1 Legend

Ringbrothers KINGPIN Mustang

Ringbrothers KINGPIN Mustang marks a new era for American muscle, blending the soul of the 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 with cutting-edge performance. The reimagined classic made its debut at the 2025 SEMA Show, standing as one of the boldest restomods ever crafted.

Modern Engineering Meets Classic Soul

Handbuilt over 5,500 hours, KINGPIN transforms Ford’s original Mach 1 design into a 21st-century performance icon. Every panel, component, and contour has been reworked to capture the essence of the past while embracing modern technology.

The foundation starts with a heavily modified Roadster Shop FAST TRACK Stage III chassis, reengineered into a unibody design for maximum strength. The car’s proportions were subtly altered, widening the body by up to 3.5 inches and extending the wheelbase by 1.5 inches to improve balance and stance.

Designing the “Final Boss” Mustang

Ringbrothers co-owner Jim Ring described the project’s intent as pure attitude: “We asked ourselves, what would the final boss in a John Wick film drive?” The answer became a darkly elegant muscle car wrapped in a custom BASF shade called Bootleg Black, accented with Grab-Her Green details.

Sharp lines, aggressive sculpting, and carbon-fiber components, including the hood, diffuser, and valance, complete the sinister look. Every element was designed to enhance performance while maintaining the timeless Mach 1 silhouette.

Interior with a Modern Edge

Inside, KINGPIN merges vintage cues with cutting-edge craftsmanship. Custom 3D-printed trim, machined brightwork, and crushed-carbon accents bring precision and artistry together. The cockpit features Dakota Digital gauges, Vintage Air climate control, and a bespoke Ringbrothers steering wheel inspired by their ENYO project.

Power, Performance, and Engineering Precision

Under the hood lies a Wegner Motorsports 5.0-liter Coyote V8 topped with a Whipple supercharger. The result is an earth-shaking output of over 800 horsepower, delivered through a Bowler Carbon Edition six-speed manual gearbox. Custom Ringbrothers headers and a Flowmaster Super 44 stainless exhaust system complete the setup.
