The YANGWANG U9 Xtreme Nürburgring record marks another milestone in electric hypercar performance. Following its 496.22km/h world-speed record, the U9 Xtreme has now conquered the Nürburgring Nordschleife, becoming the first electric hypercar to lap the circuit in under seven minutes.
A New Benchmark at the Green Hell
YANGWANG’s engineering team has been fine-tuning the U9 Xtreme at the 20.832km Nürburgring circuit since July 2024. On 22 August 2025, their work paid off as the car completed a lap in 6m59.157sec, breaking the previous electric super sports car record by more than five seconds.
This result reinforces YANGWANG’s position as a pioneer in electric performance, pushing boundaries not only in straight-line speed but also in dynamic handling and endurance.
Engineering Precision and Power
The U9 Xtreme is built on the world’s first 1200V ultra-high-voltage platform, delivering over 3,000PS from four electric motors, each capable of spinning at 30,000rpm. With a power-to-weight ratio of 1,217PS per tonne, it demonstrates extreme levels of acceleration and control.
The record-breaking lap was driven by German racer Moritz Kranz, a Nürburgring veteran with nearly 10,000 laps under his belt. He praised the car’s balance and responsiveness, noting how YANGWANG’s setup perfectly combined raw power with precise chassis tuning.
Technology That Redefines Performance
Built on the advanced e⁴ Platform and DiSus-X intelligent body-control system, the U9 Xtreme uses “body-attitude control” to maintain optimal stability through the circuit’s toughest sections. This technology enables consistent downforce and agile cornering, essential for Nürburgring’s elevation changes and high-speed turns.
