Kindig-it TwelveAir ’53 Corvair: The V12 Concept That Won the Ridler

Kindig-it TwelveAir ’53 Corvair Concept

The Kindig-it TwelveAir ’53 Corvair Concept is a stunning reinterpretation of the original 1953 GM Motorama dream car. Inspired by Corvette heritage, this Ridler-winning creation showcases precision engineering and design innovation. It represents Kindig-it Design’s first-ever competition build for the prestigious award.

Inspired by the 1953 Corvair Concept

The TwelveAir pays homage to the Corvette-based Corvair show car of 1953. It blends C1 design cues with C7 engineering touches. Every component, from body panels to the chassis, was built entirely from scratch, demonstrating a new level of craftsmanship for the Kindig-it team.

Engine and Transmission

Power comes from a Race Cast Engineering 9.2-liter V12LS engine producing around 700 wheel horsepower. This naturally aspirated aluminum powerhouse pairs with a C7-sourced GM 8L90E eight-speed automatic transmission, ensuring seamless power delivery and refined drivability.

Body Construction and Design

The unibody structure is hand-formed from 3003T0 and 6061 aluminum. Its sculpted lines reinterpret the Corvair’s curves while introducing modern aerodynamics. Finished in “Infrared” paint by Modern Classikk with “Sagebrushed” accents, it perfectly balances boldness and sophistication.

Interior Craftsmanship

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in Sienna leather by JS Custom Interiors. A 3D-printed dashboard, console, and inserts create a seamless flow, enhanced by integrated ambient lighting that elevates the car’s futuristic aesthetic.

Wheels and Tires

Custom 20-inch Monolug billet wheels, designed by Dave Kindig and machined by EVOD, anchor the build. These unique wheels integrate the brake hats into the rotors, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, 345/30-20 up front and 345/25-21 at the rear.
