Porsche Penske Motorsport IMSA 2025 season concluded with full domination as the factory team secured all GTP class titles for the second consecutive year. Building on early-season victories, the team showcased unmatched consistency, reliability, and teamwork throughout the championship.
Another Record-Breaking IMSA Campaign
The 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship ended in triumph for Porsche and its factory team. Competing under the Porsche Penske Motorsport banner, the Porsche 963 added another milestone season to the record books. Since the LMDh era began in 2023, the 963 has achieved 11 wins, 12 titles, and 9,441 points, making it the most successful hybrid prototype in IMSA history.
According to Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport, “Our team showed incredible spirit and extracted the maximum possible from every situation. I’m immensely proud of that.”
Four Early Wins Set the Championship Tone
The campaign started perfectly, with four wins from the first four races. Victories at Daytona, Sebring, Long Beach, and Laguna Seca propelled Porsche into an early championship lead. These results demonstrated not only speed but flawless execution from both drivers and crew.
Roger Penske, Founder and Chairman of Penske Corporation, noted: “Winning the 24 Hours of Daytona twice in a row and defending the IMSA titles reflects the extraordinary effort of our entire team.”
Key Victories in Daytona and Sebring
January 26 – 24 Hours of Daytona: Felipe Nasr, Laurens Vanthoor, and Nick Tandy delivered Porsche’s 20th overall Daytona win. Their teammates Mathieu Jaminet, Kévin Estre, and Matt Campbell secured third, giving Porsche an early manufacturers’ points lead.
March 15 – 12 Hours of Sebring: Porsche extended its record with a 19th overall victory at Sebring. The same driver trio repeated their success, while the sister car finished second for another one-two result, solidifying Porsche’s dominance in endurance racing.
Consistency Through the Mid-Season
Porsche’s reliability continued at Long Beach and Laguna Seca, where both cars claimed back-to-back one-two finishes. Despite challenging conditions in Detroit and Watkins Glen, Porsche extended its podium streak to 17 consecutive races since 2023.
Even when setbacks occurred, as seen at Watkins Glen and Road America, the team managed to retain the lead in every championship category, proof of strategic depth and technical precision.
Championship Triumph at Road Atlanta
The final race, Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, decided the season. Entering with narrow margins, Porsche Penske Motorsport executed a flawless race strategy. Third place for Campbell and Jaminet secured the drivers’, teams’, and manufacturers’ championships for the second straight year.
In the Michelin Endurance Cup, Porsche again topped every classification. Nasr and Tandy captured both the driver and team titles for the No. 7 Porsche 963, completing a clean sweep of endurance honors.
