The 2025 Berlin E-Prix Round 13 delivered one of the most dramatic turns in this season’s ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Mitch Evans, driving for Jaguar TCS Racing, claimed his first win since São Paulo, breaking his long dry spell in stunning fashion.
Mitch Evans Returns to Winning Form
After a tough stretch of races, Evans made a strong comeback in Berlin. Starting from pole, he controlled the pace from the front and executed a composed strategy. Despite tricky brake management late in the race, he kept the lead through several Safety Car interruptions.
Evans’ win ties him with Sebastien Buemi for the most Formula E wins ever, 14 in total. More importantly, he puts Jaguar TCS Racing back into the spotlight just in time for the final stretch of Season 11.
Wehrlein Grabs Key Points for Porsche
Pascal Wehrlein wasn’t content to play it safe. Starting from ninth on the grid, he surged through the pack and pushed hard to challenge for the win. Though he couldn’t pass Evans, Wehrlein secured second place and the Fastest Lap point.
His result closes the gap to Drivers’ Championship leader Oliver Rowland to just 50 points, with 87 points still available in the final three rounds. Porsche now leads Nissan by 30 points in the Teams’ standings and by five in the Manufacturers’ race.
Rowland’s Costly Retirement
Championship frontrunner Oliver Rowland had a disastrous outing. Attempting a bold pass at the hairpin on Lap 33, he sustained race-ending damage to his Nissan. That DNF gave both Wehrlein and Porsche a massive boost as they close in on the top spot.
The pressure now shifts onto Rowland, who must bounce back quickly if he wants to maintain his title hopes heading into the final double-header in London.
Late-Race Penalties Shake the Order
While Evans and Wehrlein stole the headlines, António Félix da Costa had a bittersweet afternoon. He was set for a podium but received a five-second penalty for an aggressive move on Jake Hughes. That penalty dropped him from third to tenth, ending his Drivers’ Championship challenge.
Edoardo Mortara, however, capitalized on the late chaos. Using his final ATTACK MODE efficiently, he claimed his second consecutive podium for Mahindra Racing, showing that strong strategy still counts.
Final Rounds Are Set to Deliver More Drama
With Round 14 kicking off just one day later in Berlin, teams must reset quickly. Qualifying begins at 11:20 local time, with the race set for 16:05. After that, all eyes turn to London for the grand finale.
The 2025 Berlin E-Prix Round 13 reminded us that Formula E can turn on a dime. Evans is back, Wehrlein is charging, and Rowland has work to do. The championship is far from settled.
