The New McLaren W1 Brings Racing Power to Goodwood

The McLaren W1 Goodwood 2025 appearance is set to ignite this year’s Festival of Speed with a display of sheer performance and legendary heritage. McLaren Automotive will showcase its most iconic models at the Goodwood Estate from July 10 to 13, celebrating innovation and motorsport legacy with the theme of ‘Champions and Challengers’.

McLaren W1 Leads the Lineup at Goodwood

Taking centre stage at ‘McLaren House’, the new McLaren W1 will make its global public debut. This isn’t just another debut, it’s the beginning of a new era in McLaren’s ‘1’ car legacy.

Only 399 units will be made, and all are already spoken for. McLaren crafted the W1 to thrill both on the road and on track, with a focus on raw, emotional connection between driver and machine.

Power, Performance and Purpose

The W1 features a 1275PS hybrid V8 engine powering the rear wheels. This all-new powertrain is paired with cutting-edge active aerodynamics inspired by Formula 1, including a ground-effect system that increases cornering stability and control.

This performance-focused setup puts the W1 in a category of its own, linking modern engineering with motorsport roots. It’s not just about speed, it’s about precision, balance, and pure driving enjoyment.

The Legacy of McLaren’s ‘1’ Series

The W1 joins a legendary family that includes the iconic McLaren F1 and the game-changing McLaren P1™. At Goodwood 2025, all three cars will be displayed together. This historic reunion underscores how McLaren redefines supercar standards across generations.

Each car in the ‘1’ series tells its own story of ambition, innovation, and dominance. Seeing them side by side will be a rare visual journey into McLaren’s evolution.

30 Years Since Le Mans Glory

2025 also marks three decades since McLaren’s first, and victorious, attempt at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. At Goodwood, the famous #59 McLaren F1 GTR that won the 1995 race will return, driven up the hill by original race winner JJ Lehto.

New 750S Le Mans Special Edition

Inspired by that 1995 triumph, McLaren will also showcase the new 750S Le Mans. Limited to just 50 customer examples, this car wears a unique MSO High Downforce Kit and honors the spirit of the F1 LM road car.

This rare edition combines racing spirit with modern supercar engineering, making it a must-see at McLaren House.

Solus GT Brings the Drama Again

Returning to the Goodwood Hill for a third consecutive year is the Solus GT, a single-seat, track-only hypercar powered by an 840PS naturally aspirated V10. Weighing under 1,000kg, the Solus GT is built purely for performance.

This year, a customer-owned model will tackle the hill once again, emphasizing McLaren Special Operations’ ability to craft tailored experiences.

Celebration Edition Supercars Join the Action

McLaren will also present ultra-exclusive 750S and Artura Celebration Editions. Just nine of each will be built, celebrating the 2024 Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship win.

These bespoke cars feature livery in Papaya Orange and Anthracite, paying tribute to McLaren’s motorsport legacy with bold, track-inspired style.

A Decade of LT Performance

McLaren is also honoring 10 years of its Longtail (LT) performance cars in 2025. As part of the ‘Celebrate LT’ initiative, rare models from McLaren’s heritage fleet will be on display in the Supercar Paddock, with many taking part in dynamic demonstrations.

This milestone highlights how McLaren’s LT models have become icons of lightweight performance and extreme capability.

Summary

The 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed will be a powerful celebration of everything McLaren stands for, innovation, performance, and motorsport legacy. With the debut of the W1 and the return of Le Mans-winning icons, this event promises to be unforgettable for fans and enthusiasts.
