Škoda Motorsport reached a significant milestone with the delivery of the 100th Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, celebrated during a ceremony at their headquarters in Mladá Boleslav. The milestone vehicle was presented to Romanian driver Andrei Gîrtofan, leader of the Romanian championship, marking a new era in his rally career.
“Selling the 100th Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 is indeed a very special moment for Škoda Motorsport,” remarked Lukáš Paták, Head of the Škoda Motorsport Customer Programme. “This milestone underscores our commitment to producing highly competitive rally cars and providing excellent service to our customers.”
Gîrtofan, representing Prorally Team Brasov, expressed excitement about upgrading from his current Škoda Fabia Rally2 to the latest model. “I’ve achieved top results with the first-generation Škoda Fabia Rally2, but I am eager to switch to the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2,” he stated. “It’s the best car for my pursuit of the national championship title.”
The Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 builds on nearly a decade of success in Rally2 specifications, continually refined and developed for competitive edge. In the latter half of the 2024 season, Škoda Motorsport plans to introduce a second gear set, enhancing the car’s performance for high-speed events like Rally Finland. Recent improvements also include enhanced brake pedal response and increased durability of brake cooling ducts.
Since its introduction in 2015, the Škoda Fabia Rally2 has been a force in rallying, claiming 28 regional and 125 national championships, with over 22,000 appearances and 2,563 victories at rally events globally. With deliveries to 42 countries worldwide, the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 continues to dominate its category, cementing its position as a top choice among rally enthusiasts.
