Preservation is part of any well-maintained collection, and this unrestored V-code Plymouth Superbird may be one of the most visible examples. Zzenith Certified in 2010 and hosting an odometer that reads 5,444 miles, this car received an FIVA/HVA Preservation award at Meadowbrook Concours of America in Rochester, Michigan. With a known and storied ownership history, its provenance is extensive as well – the original window sticker, factory invoice, shipping notice, warranty punch card, MSO and two broadcast sheets are included in the sale. If you have desired a Superbird that challenges its peers in terms of originality, this is it.

Being 1-of-716 V-code examples produced in the limited production run in late 1969, this 1970 model still retains its original drivetrain, exhaust, belts, hoses, paint, interior and glass. Purportedly being the 200th Superbird completed as well as the 100th V-code example to roll off the assembly line, this car was shipped new to Ed Ousley Chrysler Plymouth, Inc. in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, and has been carefully looked after since day one.

Underneath its unique hood is the matching-numbers 440 6-BBL engine, the 385 HP Super Commando workhorse that gave owners Hemi-like performance manners without the added engine costs. Equipped with the A36 Performance Axle package, the car came with an A727 Torqueflite automatic transmission and 8 ¾ SureGrip with 3.55 final gearing. All Superbirds also received power steering, power brakes with front discs, and extreme-duty cooling components as well.

The exterior wears iconic High Impact EV2 TorRed with its black vinyl top. The aero components are self-explanatory – nosecone, fender-mounted air extractors, flush rear window and towering pylon-mount deck wing. Inside is a spartan original bench seat interior, with 150 MPH speedometer, Solid State AM radio, silver vinyl accents, and Beep-Beep steering wheel center. In addition to its tinted windshield and bright exhaust tips, this car rides on 15” Rallye wheels and Goodyear F60-15 Polyglas GT tires.

Complete with period photos and sales ad clippings, this is a wing that will fly fast in today’s collector market. Want greatness? Here ‘V’ means victory.
