This Chevrolet Tahoe is a self-driving SUV named “Boss” and it made history by driving safely and swiftly while sharing the road with other vehicles. The feat earned Carnegie Mellon University first place in the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Urban Challenge.
The “Boss” won over 11 other autonomous vehicles on a course of suburban/urban roadways and earned a $2 million cash award. The team included Carnegie Mellon faculty, students, and engineers from General Motors, Caterpillar, Continental and Intel who were imbedded with the team in Pittsburgh.
