Bugatti is excited to be back at the globally renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed. Taking place on the resplendent grounds of Goodwood House near Chichester (West Sussex), the Chiron Pur Sport1 will be driven up the illustrious hill climb, with the all-new Chiron Super Sport2 on static display at the event, as one of its first public appearances. The Bugatti Baby II will also be making a static appearance at the Festival of Speed.
Taking place between the 8th and 11th July, the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed is a must-see event for many motorsports enthusiasts. The largest event of its kind, visitors can expect to see some of the latest and greatest classic and contemporary road-going vehicles, including Bugatti. Present at this year’s event, Bugatti will have three vehicles on display, with one making a dynamic appearance.
Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport
Recently named Robb Report’s Best Hypercar for 2021, the Chiron Pur Sport will be driven up the legendary hill climb circuit by none other than Le Mans winner and Bugatti Pilote Officiel, Andy Wallace. Designed to be the most agile member of the Chiron3 family, the Pur Sport was built to take on winding and challenging roads whilst offering customers uncompromising power through its quad-turbo W16, with 1,500hp and 1,600 Nm of torque. Delivering 0-100km/h in 2.3 seconds and with a top speed of 350km/h, the Chiron Pur Sport is guaranteed to deliver to the event’s sell-out crowds.
Limited to 60 units, each Pur Sport carries a 1.9 meter rear spoiler to generate enough downforce for cornering and stability at high speeds. New, cutting-edge additions to the car include incredibly lightweight, highly temperature resistant 3D-printed titanium exhaust tailpipes to reduce weight and increase performance. Other notable features include new lightweight magnesium wheels with optional aero blades for extra wheel ventilation and improved aerodynamics.
Based in the Michelin Supercar Paddock on all four days of the event, the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport will make appearances each day on the accompanying interactive Michelin Supercar Paddock stage, with Andy Wallace being interviewed as a special guest.
Bugatti Chiron Super Sport
On static display in a glass display box, will be the all-new Bugatti Chiron Super Sport – the quintessence of luxury and speed. The Chiron Super Sport was engineered with top speed in mind, whilst also being able to offer both luxury and comfort, making it the ultimate grand tourisme. Driven by a thoroughly overhauled 8.0-liter W16 engine, the power output – at 1,600 PS – is equal to the Chiron Super Sport 300+4. Meanwhile, modifications made to the turbochargers, oil pump and cylinder heads allow the Chiron Super Sport to accomplish 0-200km/h in 5.5 seconds, 0-300km/h in 12.1 seconds and a top speed of 440km/h.
In addition to its impressive performance capability, the Chiron Super Sport comes with a ‘long tail’ adding an extra 25cm to the length over the Chiron for optimal aerodynamic performance, alongside a vertical stack exhaust set-up and nine exhaust holes above the front wheels. Altogether, and with other intricate modifications, this car has been carefully developed with stability and aerodynamic efficiency at its core.
Bugatti will soon begin with the production of the Chiron Super Sport in Molsheim, France. Delivery of the hyper sports cars with a price tag of 3.2 million euros (net) is scheduled to start early 2022.
Bugatti Baby II
Bugatti is also celebrating its glorious past at the event in the Goodwood Road and Racing Club (GRRC) with the Bugatti Baby II, a 75 percent scale, all-electric Type 35 racer – strictly limited to 500 units. Just like the original Bugatti Baby from 1926, the Bugatti Baby II has been developed using state-of-the-art technology whilst paying homage to Bugatti’s rich automotive heritage. It was revived by Bugatti to celebrate their 110th anniversary and is a modern tribute to Ettore Bugatti’s masterpiece, which he and his son Jean built for Ettore’s youngest son, Roland, on his fourth birthday.
At a size which can comfortably accommodate adults and children, the Bugatti Baby II has an electric rear-wheel drive powertrain, replaceable lithium-ion batteries and an adjustable pedal box, alongside regenerative braking. The vehicle can be driven in two selectable drive modes, but for even more speed, an optional Chiron-inspired “Speed Key” upgrade is available, which increases power up to 10 kW and top speed to 68km/h.
The Bugatti Baby II will also make appearances on the interactive Michelin Supercar Paddock stage throughout the Festival of Speed.
