The 2026 BMW M2 CS high-performance sports car with 530 hp sets a new benchmark in compact performance. It builds on a proud lineage including the BMW 2002 turbo and 1-Series M Coupé. This model offers thrilling driving for both track enthusiasts and everyday drivers alike.

The M2 CS was first previewed in May 2025 at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Production takes place in Mexico at the San Luis Potosí plant. Limited numbers will be sold in key markets such as the USA, Germany, and China starting late summer 2025.

Power and Engine Performance

The 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology produces an impressive 530 hp (390 kW). This output exceeds the standard M2 by 50 hp, matching performance figures from the BMW M3 Competition Sedan and M4 Competition Coupé. The engine generates a peak torque of 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) from 2,650 to 5,730 rpm. Its high-revving character peaks at 7,200 rpm, delivering an exhilarating experience.

Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. The accelerator response is finely tuned across drive modes, ensuring immediate throttle reactions.

Lightweight Design and Carbon Fiber Use

BMW M GmbH employed intelligent lightweight design to reduce mass by about 30 kilograms compared to the standard M2. Extensive carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic components are used both inside and out. The roof, boot lid with an integrated ducktail, and rear diffuser are crafted from carbon fiber. Forged M light-alloy wheels finished in matt Gold Bronze contribute to the lightest M2 model yet.

Chassis and Handling

The chassis features bespoke tuning with lowered suspension by eight millimeters. Springs, dampers, and control systems are optimized for precise handling. Dynamic Stability Control is calibrated for track use with an M Dynamic Mode setting. The adaptive M chassis ensures sharp responses, aided by M Servotronic steering and an M Sport differential.

Braking performance comes from standard M Compound brakes with red callipers. An M Carbon ceramic brake option is available for enhanced stopping power.

Acceleration and Speed

Thanks to power and weight reductions, the BMW M2 CS sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Using the “1-foot rollout” method, the time improves to 3.5 seconds. The sprint to 200 km/h drops to 11.7 seconds, while mid-range acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h takes 3.4 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 302 km/h (188 mph).

Exterior Styling and Colors

The M2 CS stands out with exclusive exterior details like a black BMW M kidney grille, matte black front splitter, and carbon fiber mirror caps. Four paint options are offered, including Sapphire Black metallic and BMW Individual Velvet Blue metallic. Adaptive LED headlights with selective beam technology and M lights Shadowline with dark inlays complete the aggressive look.

Interior Features

Inside, the M2 CS blends sportiness and luxury. Carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic is used for the center console, saving weight. Heated M Carbon bucket seats provide firm support and multiple electric adjustments. Alcantara trim and an illuminated “CS” logo enhance the premium ambiance.

Advanced Engine Technology

The engine shares technology with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO racing car, including two mono-scroll turbochargers and high precision injection at 350 bar pressure. VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and Double-VANOS variable camshafts optimize power and efficiency. The cooling system and map-controlled oil pump ensure reliable performance during demanding driving.
