1968 Ford Mustang Fastback – The Pegasus Project

The Pegasus Project, a dedicated group committed to supporting the STARS air ambulance in Saskatchewan, has unveiled a stunning, custom-built 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback. This unique vehicle, equipped with a powerful 427 cubic inch V8 engine, was revealed to the world last week at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

A Team Effort
The build of this extraordinary Mustang was led by automotive enthusiasts and businessmen Vaughn Wyant and Wayne Halabura. They were supported by premier custom automotive builder Bryan Thiessen of Creative Concepts Restorations and designer Bruce Williams. Together, they created a vehicle that is both a tribute to classic muscle cars and a marvel of modern automotive engineering.

Design and Performance
The Pegasus Mustang is a masterpiece of custom design and performance enhancements. It features a fully custom TCI coil-over front and rear suspension, ensuring superior handling and ride quality. The heart of this beast is a Ford racing 427 cubic inch V8 engine, producing over 500 horsepower, paired with a Tremec TKO600 manual transmission. The engine is topped with eye-catching velocity stacks, while a Borla fuel injection and exhaust system provides an optimized sound and performance.

The exterior of the car is equally impressive, with handmade sheet metal front and rear facias, custom sheet metal hood and deck lid, and custom front and rear spoilers. One-off custom tail lights and billet wheels with Wilwood 13-inch disc brakes front and rear complete the exterior transformation. The interior is entirely custom-built, showcasing the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into this one-of-a-kind Mustang.

Charitable Cause
Beyond its debut at the 2021 SEMA Show, the Pegasus Mustang will be featured as a charitable auction vehicle at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, in January 2022. Every dollar from the sale will go to support the STARS air ambulance in Saskatchewan, making this project not only a showcase of automotive excellence but also a vehicle for a great cause.
