Canopy Express was based on Chevrolet’s popular FB- series half ton pickup truck with the optional canvas canopy top and side drop-curtains, which were sold through Chevrolet dealers. Popular options found on this truck include a side-mount spare tire, rear bumper and a right-hand taillight. New standard features introduced to Chevy trucks for 1936 included hydraulic brakes, an all-steel cab and a revamped dashboard that more closely resembled those found in Chevy automobiles of the era. In 1936, annual new truck registrations topped 200,000 units for the first time in company history.
